This appointment is for patients with current or expired Medical Marijuana Recommendations who want to both renew their recommendation and consult with the physician. For those patients not seeking a physician consult, we suggest scheduling an On-Line Renewal.

What is the cost?

Medical Marijuana Recommendations Renewal with Physician Visit  are $75. In order to schedule, you will need to provide a valid credit card. Your card will be charged at the completion of your appointment.

How long will the appointment take?

The on-line intake form takes about 10 minutes. The 15 minute consultation with the physician  is designed to review current usage, answer your questions, and make suggestions on improving the results you seek from Cannabis.

What do I need available at the time of the appointment? 

If you obtained your previous Medical Marijuana Recommendation elsewhere, please have a copy of this document available during your appointment.

What will I get?

You will receive a medical marijuana recommendation if your symptoms are likely to respond to medical marijuana’s medicinal properties. Recommendations are internet verifiable and valid for one year and can be presented to any dispensary in California where you can obtain medicinal marijuana.

During your appointment, the physician will review your current medication usage and make suggestions for improvement if you are not getting the symptom relief you seek.  If you seek a written treatment plan and more extensive guidance,  you should sign up for a Personalized Treatment Plan Package instead.

What about a Medical Marijuana Card?

Your written doctor’s recommendation is your legal document and, along with your California ID, all that is necessary to purchase medical marijuana products from a medical dispensary. Many patients think that they need a “card” from the physician providing the medical marijuana recommendation.  However, a physician-issued card is simply a convenient way to carry your medical marijuana recommendation around in a wallet. For those with a smart phone, you can take a picture of your recommendation, ensuring it is legible, and show it instead of the paper document to gain entry to medical-only dispensaries or receive a discount.

To access a dispensary in a state outside of California, you may be able to use your California recommendation if that State offers California reciprocity.  The CaNORML website is the go-to resource for California’s legal framework for marijuana (www.CaNORML.org) and also has information on which states have reciprocal arrangements with California.  Since laws outside of California determine reciprocity and they are now changing more than in the past, it is best to check a state’s current laws if you are trying to use cannabis in that state.
